LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE AND PRAYER

The Religious Sisters of Mercy

The Religious Sisters of Mercy are at the heart of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School, bringing a rich tradition of faith, service, and education to our community. Founded in 1973 in response to the renewal called for by the Second Vatican Council, the Sisters follow the example of Venerable Catherine McAuley, dedicating their lives to the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.

The Sisters profess the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and a fourth vow of service. Their apostolic work varies; the Sisters work as teachers, physicians, healthcare professionals, lawyers, and other skilled leaders in the United States and internationally. At St. Clare, the Religious Sisters of Mercy provide guidance to our staff and students, continually reminding us to place the Lord at the heart of all we do.

The current Sisters who serve at our school are:

  • Sister Regina Marie, Principal and Middle School Band
  • Sister Catherine Marie, 1st Grade
  • Sister Mary Noel, 2nd and 3rd Grade
  • Sister Emily Zender, 2nd and 3rd Grade Aide
  • Sister Maria José, Middle School Math and Science
  • Sister Maria Neri, Middle School ELA, Theology, and Latin

Catholic education holds profound value. It forms the whole person—mind, body, and spirit— by placing God at the center of all learning and growth.
